Adam & Eve Participates in Angel Tree Toy Drive

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Every year, adult retailer Adam & Eve “adopts” a needy child in Orange County, N.C., for the holidays. The purpose is to try and provide them with nice holiday gifts. This Angel Tree set-up is done through the Orange County Social Services (OCSS), the same group that handles the annual Thanksgiving meal drive and many other programs that PHE favors as a way to give back to the community.

“The holidays are really about seeing children smile, and I love that we can make that happen for some at this festive time of year,” said Gina Phelps, in-house coordinator of the Angel Tree drive. “It’s important to help those less fortunate, and I am proud of our employees for giving back every year. They never fail to step up to the challenge.”

The “Angels” range from babies to teens. They provide OCSS with a wish list, which gets adopted by an employee or department to provide for the kids. This year there were 30 Angels and loads of presents given, PHE reported. The company started participating in the OCSS Angel Tree program about 20 years ago, and plans to continue to do so annually.

The company said that for this holiday season a last-minute, “unofficial” Angel family was added to the cause straight through PHE. A local police officer thought of PHE immediately when he and his family discovered another family in desperate need of help. Together with the officer’s family, PHE did not hesitate in offering help.

With close to 375 employees, PHE, Inc. is known in the community for its charitable attitude and efforts. The company was chosen as 2005’s “Employer of the Year” by the Orange County Chamber of Commerce. For more information on PHE, Inc., or its contributions, contact public relations coordinator Leslie Limerick at leslie@adameve.com.
